Service Description
This course equips Head Start home visitors with the knowledge and practical skills needed to stay safe while delivering high-quality services to families. Participants will learn how to identify potential hazards in home and community environments, assess risk, and apply proactive safety strategies before, during, and after visits. Through real-world scenarios and interactive activities, the course explores effective communication and de-escalation techniques for managing challenging situations. It also covers essential legal and ethical responsibilities, including maintaining professional boundaries and recognizing and reporting suspected child abuse or neglect. Learners will develop a personalized safety plan, understand proper incident reporting procedures, and build confidence in responding to emergencies. By the end of the course, participants will be better prepared to protect their own well-being while supporting the safety and success of the families they serve.
